Buffalo Ridge Trail

The Buffalo Ridge Trail is a proposed 2.7 mile trail connecting Division Street to South Airport Road. The trail will link to the existing Mall Trail and Boardman Lake Trail by way of Griffin Street. The trail will provide access to three schools, numerous natural areas, the Commons, Historic Barns Park, Great Wolf Lodge and the new YMCA. It will allow thousands of residents in Garfield Township and Traverse City to get where they want to go without a car.

As of November 2011, the first phase of the trail is complete with the South Campus Entrance to the Grand Traverse Commons. Funding was secured for the South Campus entrance through a collaborative effort between the City of Traverse City, TC-TALUS/Grand Vision, Garfield Township, Munson Health Care, and TART Trails.

TART is working closely with Garfield Township and stakeholders to develop a conceptual design for the trail from West Middle School to the new YMCA and Kid’s Creek Park. TART and Garfield Township will pursue funding opportunities for trail design and construction.
