Bart Ingraham, The Dancers
The Dancers, by Bart Ingraham, is installed at the Shady Lane Trailhead along the Leelanau Trail. This sculpture, made of black walnut, epoxy, and varnish, commemorates the dance of life that Bart and his wife Gail so often did side by side.
About the Artist
Bart Ingraham was a gifted sculptor and musician. While serving in the Peace Corps in the Phillipines, he observed some native tribesmen carving unique pieces with rudimentary tools and he thought if they could do it, so could he. Upon returning to the states and ending in Suttons Bay he started his carving career. Mostly self-taught with some drawing classes and two sculpting workshops Bart began his work as a sculptor.
