Project Summary
As the population grows in Grand Traverse County, the TART Trails network works to connect to these new neighbors, to achieve our “every home a trailhead” vision. The Blair Township Trail project addresses this vision by building non-motorized trail infrastructure into Blair Township and beyond. Blair Township is located approximately 5 miles south of Traverse City with 9,000 residents in several concentrated areas. Currently, Blair Township has no safe non-motorized connectivity internally or to Traverse City. This project would provide the first phase of non-motorized, multi-use trail infrastructure in Blair Township and is the first step in connecting Blair to the regional trail network. The first phase of the Blair Township Trail is a proposed non-motorized multi-use trail serving as a cornerstone providing Township residents immediate connections between residential properties and schools, places of employment, commercial areas, and recreational areas.
Objectives
The Blair Trail project is part of a larger vision and future phases to:
- Connect Blair and Traverse City and the regional TART Trails network
- Connect Blair and Interlochen
- Connect Traverse City, Blair (Chum’s Corners and Grawn), Interlochen, and Thompsonville
