Ride For Dignity
October 11, 2014 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
A bike ride event benefiting Northwest Michigan Supportive Housing
Saturday Oct. 11 at 1pm. We will be riding 17 miles of the Leelanau TART Trail from the Darrow Park trailhead in Traverse City to North Park in Sutton’s Bay. All proceeds benefit Northwest Michigan Supportive Housing and TART Trails, to make permanent rental housing affordable for the homeless and to assist people who have special needs and very low income throughout the Grand Traverse region. NMSH aims to end homelessness by promoting mental wellness.
Adult rider fee plus bus ride from Sutton’s Bay $35 Adult rider fee is $30
Child 10-18 is $15
Child 10 and under free
Start: Check-in will begin at 11:30am at Darrow Park in Traverse City, where you will pick up your NMSH water bottle and information packet. Parking is available at Willow Hill Elementary, a short ride away from the park. Experienced Riders will begin their ride at 1pm, and the second wave of families and less-experienced riders will begin their ride at 1:30pm. Helmets are required for all riders.
Length: The paved trail is about 17 miles one way from the Darrow Park trailhead, to the North Park in Sutton’s Bay. Follow the signs to the finish.
Duration: An average time to complete the ride is 2 hours. It may take families with young children longer depending on how many stops are taken. There will be water stations along the way, but carrying a water bottle is highly suggested.
Finish: Cider, donuts and other fall favorites will be offered in the North Park pavilion area in Sutton’s Bay.
Transportation: It is suggested that you provide your own transportation to and from the ride. Experienced riders may be interested in riding the trail back to Traverse City. There is an option, at an additional cost, for riders to leave a vehicle in Sutton’s Bay before the ride, and ride a TCAPS bus back to the start at Darrow Park. Seats are limited to one rider per car and are available on a first-registered, first-served basis.
*Please select the shuttle option on the registration. One rider per group or family meet the bus at North Park in Sutton’s Bay after leaving your vehicle for your return trip upon ride completion. The bus will leave North Park in Sutton’s Bay promptly at 11:30am.
Emergency Management: SAG riders from North Flight EMS will be roving the path in case of emergencies.
