The women of the Traverse City Track Club, with the help of our families and friends, organize the Remembrance Run/Walk each year. While the Remembrance Run was established in 1994, we recognized there were many women in our community not only challenged with breast cancer, but also in need of financial assistance for non-medical aspects of their care. Secondary to this need, 1997 saw the birth of northern Michigan’s Women’s Cancer Fund.
Now, the Women’s Cancer Fund is made possible through the fund raising efforts of not only the Traverse City Track Club, but also by other community support and programming, including: Women’s Hands Art Show, The North American VASA, Boarding for Breast Cancer, Rumpled-Quilts-Kin Quilt Guild, Kay’s retail and private donations. Every Remembrance Run dollar, above event costs, is donated to the Women’s Cancer Fund.

We are excited to have Timber Ridge RV Recreation Resort host our Remembrance Run/Walk each year. The 5K and 1 mile course meanders through a beautiful wooded setting on one of northern Michigan’s favorite hiking, biking and ski trails during peak fall colors. It is a relatively flat run/walk with some rolling hills. The well marked, twelve foot wide trail provides a very peaceful, tranquil environment to celebrate the lives of those challenged with breast cancer, and to honor those who have passed. This beautiful setting offers a very non-competitive atmosphere. Please be advised some areas may not be suitable for traditional strollers.
Also New, A 3K Obstacle Course!
This is an opportunity to run a 3 KM obstacle course with unique obstacles from “the wall” to the “cargo climb” spread throughout the beautiful hills of Timber Ridge. Just like the women who battle cancer, this course will offer physical and mental challenges!
Get a team together for the Team Trophy or compete on an individual basis. Prizes to top 5
finishers. Obstacles will be placed through the woodland course. May the challenge of obstacles make you stronger!
