Traverse City to Charlevoix Trail – Acme

A trail 20 years in the making! The 1.25 mile proposed trail will help residents and visitors safely access businesses, existing trails and recreation opportunities. This project is a big step to a more walkable and bikeable Acme Township and the southernmost segment of the overall Traverse City to Charlevoix Trail.

Preliminary design to connect the TART at Bunker Hill to the new Meijer and M72 corridor was completed in 2016. The planning effort was led by the Acme Township Parks & Trails Committee and supported by TART Trails. Final design engineering is now underway and expected to be complete by the end of 2019. Construction of this section of trail is slated for 2021.

The proposed Acme Shoreline Trail (shown on the map as a green dashed line) is a priority for this project, however, property to plan and construct that section is currently unavailable. As that changes over time, project partners will continue working to make that portion of trail a reality on the west side of US-31 between Bunker Hilll Rd. and M-72.
